Viral Marketing and Tennis Balls
Okay, so I’m on del.icio.us tracking down someone who is nice enough to add this blog to their bookmarks so I can thank them, and I come across this headline:
How A Guy Became A Millionaire Selling Antenna Balls
I absolutely had to click on it. It brought me to a terrific blog called Unusual Business Ideas That Work.
It seems that Jason Wall of Glendale, California is the founder of antennaballs.com, a website that sells tennis balls that go on your car antenna. And Jason has sold millions and millions of them. They have made him wealthy.
What’s that got to do with us? Each of these antenna balls has something on it…a logo, a Disney character, a web URL. They are perfect examples of viral marketing at its best. Not only does a company get its logo or website address or little animated mascot out there on stuck on the top of a million car antennas, but someone actually pays Jason for the privilege.

Not sure I’d put this on my car antenna.
What’s your antenna ball?
